Frequently asked questions

Is the review really free?

Yes. The initial review with the attorney has no cost. It is a chance to talk about your situation and what needs to be evaluated. It does not include preparing applications, handling the whole process or paying government fees.

Do I have to hire the attorney afterward?

No. Requesting the review does not oblige you to hire anyone. If the firm offers additional services, it will explain what they include and what they cost before you decide.

Which immigration cases can I ask about?

U.S. immigration cases: for example, a green card through a family member, citizenship, deportation or an immigration court case, asylum, cases for victims of violence or abuse (VAWA or U visa), green cards and visas through work, and tourist or investor visas. Depending on the case and your location, we will tell you whether a participating firm is available to review it. The form does not determine whether you qualify.

I live outside the U.S. Can I request the review?

Yes. You can request it whether you live in the U.S. or in another country, and also if you are asking for a family member. Where the person lives does not, by itself, determine which process applies; that is part of what the attorney will need to review.

Who will receive my information, and what happens after I send it?

Find Your Liberty will receive your request and share your contact details and your answers with the participating firm or network of firms that will help you. We will contact you to identify the firm and set up the review. You can read the details in our Privacy Policy.

Do you guarantee a result?

No. The review does not guarantee approval of any application or the result of any case. It is a chance to talk about possible options and next steps.

What if my situation is urgent?

If you have an upcoming court hearing, a deportation order or a detained family member, say so in the form and mention it when we contact you. Find Your Liberty does not offer emergency services and cannot guarantee response times. If you need help right away, contact an immigration attorney directly.
